Myanmar President is coming to India on a 4-day visit on the invitation of PM Modi. Will reach Delhi tomorrow

New Delhi. Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing will be on an official visit to India from May 30 to June 3. During this, he will meet Prime Minister Modi and discuss strengthening bilateral relations and will also participate in a business forum.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday that Myanmar’s newly elected President Min Aung Hlaing will visit India on a four-day official visit from May 30 to June 3, 2026. This visit, being held on the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be President Min’s first visit to India in his current post. He will also be accompanied by a high-level delegation of several cabinet ministers, senior officials and business leaders.

Traveling to India despite postponement of IBCA conference

President Min was earlier scheduled to attend the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) summit on June 1, but the fourth India-Africa Forum Summit was postponed due to the Ebola virus outbreak in some countries on the African continent. Since the IBCA conference was also scheduled to coincide with the same event, it was also postponed. Despite this, the President of Myanmar will now come on an official visit to India.

Will hold bilateral talks with PM Modi

According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs, President Min will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on June 1. The two leaders will discuss further strengthening the historical, cultural and civilizational ties between India and Myanmar. Apart from this, the President will also participate in a business forum.

Where will President Min go during his visit to India?

During his visit, President Min will visit Bodhgaya in Bihar on May 30, where he will visit sites of religious and cultural importance. After this, he will reach Mumbai on June 2, where along with participating in programs related to industry and business world, he will visit various industrial sites.

Why is President Min’s visit important?

The Ministry of External Affairs said that Myanmar has special importance in India’s Neighborhood First, Act East and Ocean (MAHASAGAR) policy. In such a situation, this visit is being considered important towards deepening and strengthening the multi-dimensional relations between the two countries.

This visit comes at a time when Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh visited Myanmar in April 2026 and attended the swearing-in ceremony of President Min. During that time, he met the President and reiterated India’s commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Also, on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a congratulatory message was also handed over to President Min on assuming office. Now the President’s visit to India is being considered important to give new momentum to the relations between the two countries.
