Myanmar’s land will not be used against India, President Hlaing has great confidence

Knews Desk- Giving new strength to the relations between India and Myanmar, Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing has assured Prime Minister Narendra Modi that his country’s land will not be allowed to be used for anti-India activities. In the high-level meeting between the two leaders in New Delhi, important issues like security, border management, trade and regional stability were discussed in detail.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi reiterated India’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Myanmar. At the same time, President Hlaing expressed commitment to further strengthen the security cooperation between the two countries. Both leaders agreed that the land of any country should not be allowed to be used against the other country.

Issues of armed groups operating along the India-Myanmar border, border security and regional peace were also discussed in the talks. Prime Minister Modi expressed concern about the impact of the ongoing internal conflict in Myanmar on the Indian border areas and also raised the issue of security of Indian citizens living there.

Both countries also emphasized on increasing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, health, education and emerging technologies. It was also agreed to speed up completion of connectivity projects like India-Myanmar-Thailand Trilateral Highway and Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project. This visit of President Hlaing to India is his first official foreign visit after becoming the President, which is being considered an important step in the relations between the two countries.
