The enchanting world of Naagzilla, starring the charismatic Kartik Aaryan, finds itself tangled in a web of legal intrigue. The film’s producers have sounded the alarm, filing a lawsuit that accuses three key production execs of skimming more than Rs. 3.92 crores during the movie’s development.
In a dramatic twist, the Mumbai sessions court has refused anticipatory bail for the trio, pointing to evidence that suggests their involvement in the scandal. Judge M Mohiuddin from the Dindoshi court emphasized the need for in-depth interrogations behind bars to unravel the financial mystery.
The Accused Trio
- Kuldeep Singh Champawat (47): Consultant and signing authority
- Mahipal Karan Rathore (42): Service provider and executive producer
- Shivkumar Tiwari (45): Appointed line producer
The allegations stem from a complaint by Tukaram Mahadev Sawant, an accountant with Mahaveer Jain Films Pvt. Ltd. This complaint highlights a production agreement signed with none other than Dharma Productions on a seemingly ordinary day, October 30, last year.
Champawat, brought on board for his expertise, recommended Rathore as a service provider while Tiwari took the reins as line producer, managing vendor appointments for everything from transport to makeup artists.
But the prosecution paints a different picture, alleging the threesome sidestepped standard operating procedures, racking up expenses totaling Rs. 3,92,76,308 without a shred of proper billing or documentation. The murky waters deepen with claims of inflated bills and fake invoices.
Adding to the intrigue, the court heard whispers of the accused demanding commissions and luxury items in return for business deals and payment clearances, according to the investigating officer. While these revelations are under scrutiny, it’s crucial to note the accused are yet to be convicted.
The court’s decision to deny anticipatory bail is a bold move, marking a pivotal moment in this unfolding saga of alleged financial shenanigans within a major cinematic production.
