Lucknow. Nagaram Police has taken major action against inter-district ganja smuggling and arrested two vicious smugglers. Police have recovered a total of 78.330 kg of illegal ganja kept in six sacks from the possession of both of them, the estimated value of which is said to be around Rs 16 lakh. Police have also recovered and seized the Eco Sport car used in smuggling, two iPhones and Rs 12,500 in cash. According to the police, the arrested accused used to bring ganja from Bahraich and supply it at high prices through their associates in Lucknow and surrounding districts.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Southern Mohd. On August 13, 2026, as part of the campaign being run to prevent crime and drug trafficking on the instructions of Mushtaq, the Nagaram police team was checking at Hussainabad Tiraha located on Nagaram-Gangaganj road. Meanwhile, the police saw a black colored Eco Sport car coming in a suspicious condition. When the police team stopped the car and searched it, a huge quantity of ganja was recovered from six sacks kept in it. On weighing the ganja, the total was found to be 78.330 kg.
The police detained both the youths in the car and interrogated them. During interrogation, the accused revealed their names as Prince Jaiswal son of Ramprakash Jaiswal, resident of village Samesi and Abhijeet Patel alias Sena son of Kashiprasad, resident of Bhatan Tola, Town Nagaram. According to the police, both are 25 and 26 years old respectively and both are educated till 12th. During interrogation, the accused allegedly told that they smuggled ganja through an organized gang and used to buy ganja at low price from Bahraich and sell it at higher prices through their associates in nearby districts including Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Barabanki.
According to the police, during interrogation, the accused also told that they had bought luxury items with the profits from ganja smuggling. It has also come to light that two iPhones recovered from the accused were purchased with the same money. Accused Prince Jaiswal allegedly told that he had bought an Eco Sport car only for smuggling and supplying ganja and through this vehicle the consignment of ganja was transported from one place to another.
Nagaram Police has registered a case against both the accused under FIR No. 122/2026, Section 8/20/60 NDPS Act. After completing the legal action, the police presented both the accused in the court, from where they were sent to jail. The police are now busy locating other members of the alleged gang associated with the accused and the network of ganja supply. Police say that on the basis of investigation, action will also be taken against other people involved in smuggling.
