Namo Bharat train will run between Meerut and Rishikesh: Now Lakshmanjhula will reach from Delhi in just two and a half hours, survey soon
There is a big and very wonderful news for the people of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. The way has been cleared to run high speed Namo Bharat train (RRTS) from Modipuram in Meerut to Lakshmanjhula near Rishikesh. This train, which is showing its speed on the Delhi-Meerut route, is now being extended directly to Devbhoomi. After the continuous efforts of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, this project has got the green signal. Actually, an agreement has been reached between Uttarakhand Government, Uttar Pradesh Government and National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) regarding this expansion. Now the survey work on the land is going to start soon to prepare the DPR (Detail Project Report) of this entire project.
If seen, this project will change the picture of the entire transport system of Western UP and Uttarakhand. In February this year, Namo Bharat train started operating from Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut, after which there was a demand to extend it up to Rishikesh. CM Dhami had recently met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Housing and Urban Development Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and submitted a formal proposal in this regard. After getting the green signal from the Centre, the work is now progressing rapidly. The Uttarakhand government has appointed Additional Secretary Reena Joshi as the nodal officer to speed up this ambitious project, while the NCRTC and the UP government have also completed the formalities from their side. Now the survey of this proposed track of about 150 kilometers long is waiting to start.
The new route from Meerut to Rishikesh will be like this
According to the proposed plan, this new journey of Namo Bharat train will start from Modipuram station of Meerut. From here the train will enter the border of Uttarakhand via Muzaffarnagar. After this, the route will proceed further, passing through holy places like Har Ki Paidi in Roorkee and Haridwar and reach the last end of Rishikesh, Lakshmanjhula. The length of this entire track will be about 150 kilometers, out of which 72 kilometers will fall in Uttar Pradesh and 78 kilometers in Uttarakhand.
The journey from Delhi to Rishikesh will be completed in half the time.
The biggest benefit from the start of this train will be to the pilgrims and tourists going from Delhi-NCR to Uttarakhand. At present, it takes at least five to six hours to reach Rishikesh by road from Delhi. On weekends or festivals the situation becomes worse due to traffic jams. But after the launch of Namo Bharat train running at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour, the journey from Delhi to Rishikesh will be reduced to just two and a half to three hours. Traveling to Delhi will become very easy and comfortable for the local people also.
Employment and tourism will get new momentum
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami believes that the extension of Namo Bharat train service from Meerut to Rishikesh will take the connectivity of Uttarakhand into a new era. CM Dhami said, “This will provide fast, safe and modern transportation facilities to pilgrims, tourists and local people. Our government is working with the Central and Uttar Pradesh governments to get this project off the ground as soon as possible. Our main focus is to create new opportunities for development and employment through better infrastructure in the state.”
Overall, NaMo Bharat train is going to prove to be a boon for the devotees going to Rishikesh and Haridwar in the coming days.
