Milan Pradhan, the by-election candidate from Nandigram assembly seat of West Bengal, has been arrested. He is contesting the elections on Congress Party ticket. Mamta Banerjee announced her support to him on Friday but now he has been arrested.
Mamata Banerjee faction had announced to support Congress in the October 6 by-election. West Bengal Congress has said that Milan Pradhan was arrested for his involvement in the 2007 anti-land acquisition movement.

Kunal Ghosh, leader, TMC:-
You are misusing the Election Commission and the police. When Mamata Banerjee took a political decision to support the Congress candidate, you got scared. Why was that Congress candidate arrested? This is nothing but a fascist dictatorship.
TMC said- it is dictatorship
On the arrest of Congress candidate Milan Pradhan from Nandigram, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said, 'The way the BJP government has arrested Congress candidate Milan Pradhan in Nandigram by-election, we, on behalf of Mamata Banerjee and TMC, strongly protest and condemn it. We demand his immediate release.

Congress claims- BJP is playing a dirty game
Congress has said that this is a dirty game of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Milan Pradhan had led the Nandigram movement in 2007. Since then his name has been registered in at least 12 cases. Trinamool Congress has also expressed displeasure regarding this.
Arrested while filing nomination
The police arrested him only after filing his nomination. He said that another leader Subhashish Bhattacharya was also arrested. It is alleged that he had prevented the police from arresting Milan Pradhan.
Mamta Banerjee had announced support
Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced to support Congress in Nandigram. His candidate Sanchita Pradhan De had withdrawn from the election after meeting West Bengal Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari.
