ASCOMS College of Nursing Education, Sidhra, Jammu, organised the “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan” with the objective of creating awareness among youth about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting a healthy, stronger and drug-free society.
The programme was organised in collaboration with MY Bharat J&K, Nations Development Association (NDA), Nursing Scholar Society, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and J&K AIDS Control Society.
The programme was graced by Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, MLA Ramgarh, as Chief Guest, while Sh. Vivek Kumar, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat, was the Guest of Honour. Sh. Sushil Singh Charak, Founder Cum Chief Functionary, Nations Development Association (NDA), and Resource Person, MY Bharat J&K, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, and Sh. Rakesh Raman, Treasurer, ASCOMS & Hospital, attended as Special Guests.
The event was presided over by Prof. Dr. Indra Moza, Principal, ASCOMS College of Nursing Education. The programme featured an impressive Rangoli and Poster Display, through which nursing students conveyed powerful messages against drug abuse.
This was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, felicitation of distinguished guests, cultural presentations and a thought-provoking short skit highlighting the devastating impact of drug abuse on individuals and families. Addressing the gathering, Prof. Dr. Indra Moza emphasised the important role of youth in combating substance abuse and urged students to become responsible ambassadors of a drug-free society.
Sh. Vivek Kumar administered the Drug-Free India Pledge and called upon young people to inspire others to adopt a healthy and substance-free lifestyle. Chief Guest Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal highlighted the Government of India’s commitment towards combating substance abuse and stressed that collective participation of youth, educational institutions, families and communities is essential to achieving a drug-free society.
He also appreciated the enthusiasm, creativity and talent displayed by the nursing students. A walkathon was also organised by the college faculty from ASCOMS & Hospital towards the N.H. Bypass Road, Sidhra, with participants raising slogans against drug abuse.
Students who actively participated in various activities were felicitated in recognition of their contribution. The programme concluded with the National Anthem and reaffirmed the collective commitment towards building a healthy, empowered and drug-free youth for Viksit Bharat 2047. The event conveyed a strong message that “A Drug-Free Youth is the Foundation of a Viksit Bharat.”
