India's star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra's 2026 season has ended prematurely due to injury. During training he tore a ligament in his ankle. After this Neeraj has decided to withdraw from the remaining matches of this season. Due to injury, he will not be able to participate in the upcoming Asian Games 2026. Neeraj gave this information by sharing a post on social media and during this his pain was also clearly visible.
Due to ankle injury, Neeraj Chopra will not be able to play in the Diamond League final and the first-ever World Athletics Ultimate Championship. He had qualified for both the competitions. In such a situation, the injury has put brakes on his entire international campaign of 2026.

What did Neeraj Chopra say?
Neeraj Chopra said, 'After working hard for a long time, I finally felt like I was getting back into the rhythm I was looking for. My confidence had also increased after I made my best throw of the season in Lausanne. Unfortunately, shortly thereafter I tore a ligament in my ankle during training. After talking to the doctor and my team, we have decided that I will not participate in the remaining matches of this season.
Neeraj further said, 'It is disappointing, especially because I felt that I had reached my perfect rhythm but as they say, ups and downs are part of the journey. Now my entire focus is on recovering well and coming back stronger than before.

Neeraj won many silver medals recently
Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games by throwing the javelin 85.83 meters. He had secured second position in Doha and Lausanne Diamond League. He won silver medals in Doha in June and Lausanne in August. Neeraj had thrown 88.05 meters in Lausanne, which was his best performance so far this season. After this performance, he was expected to perform well in the future but injury put an end to his season.
