India formally stepped into its role as the next host of the Commonwealth Games after receiving the Games flag at a grand closing ceremony in Glasgow. The symbolic handover marks Ahmedabad as the host city for the 2030 edition, which will also commemorate the centenary of the Games.
The flag was received by Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra, P. T. Usha, and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, signifying the official transition of hosting responsibilities from Scotland to India. The moment marked not just a ceremonial exchange, but the beginning of an ambitious journey towards staging one of the biggest multi-sport events in the country.
The closing ceremony itself was a visual spectacle, celebrating Scotland’s rich cultural identity through music, dance and storytelling.
