China Gaokao: Ruckus over NEET in India, whereas China’s Gaokao exam is unmatched!

Beijing: Last month, NEET-UG exam was canceled in India due to paper leak, due to which there was an uproar in the entire country. Apart from this, irregularities and irregularities have come to light in many examinations in recent months, due to which questions are continuously being raised regarding competitive examinations in India. But meanwhile, China is conducting the world’s biggest examination.

The Gaokao exam, which started in China on Sunday, is attracting the attention of the whole world. Due to the large number of students appearing in it, it is called the biggest examination in the world. This examination i.e. National College Entrance Exam or Gaokao Examination is conducted for the students of the last year of high school. On the basis of this examination, students get admission in undergraduate courses in universities across the country.

This examination is conducted by the Ministry of Education of China. Experts say that Gaokao has provided excellent students to higher educational institutions there and has also prepared a large number of professionals for economic development and technological innovation. But China’s preparation for such a big exam is very intense. The most important thing in this is to keep the examination away from any disturbance. Also, strict arrangements have been made to prevent copying.

China’s plan to stop copying

Arrangements like use of technology like AI-powered monitoring system and smart security screening gate in the examination centre, ban on students carrying mobile phones and wearing smart watches, ban on students wearing smart glasses and wireless communication devices, use of high-tech technology to detect hidden devices, facial recognition to detect fake fingerprints and high-tech surveillance through drones have been made.

Is China’s Gaokao completely leak-proof?

Many people consider it leak-proof. However, data from China’s Supreme People’s Court shows that the exam is not leak-proof. Because every year thousands of people are punished for cheating in this exam. According to this data, between November 2015 and April 2024, more than 11,000 people have been sentenced for organized cheating, selling paper answers or taking exams in place of others. Apart from this, in the year 2020, a teacher was sentenced to 4 years for running a cheating racket in Gaokao examination.

What is the punishment for copying in China?

There is a provision of punishment of 3 to 7 years for any kind of rigging or cheating in Gaokao exam, leaking test questions or answers or selling wireless devices for the exam. However, this punishment is equal to the punishment given in India. Apart from this, students in China can be jailed even for minor cheating and also cannot be allowed to appear in any government education examination for one to three years.
