NEET re-examination conducted among more than 20 lakh candidates at 5454 examination centers in the country and abroad.

New Delhi, June 21. The re-examination of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 was conducted under the banner of National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday amid tight security arrangements. More than 20 lakh candidates took part in the newly conducted examination at 5,454 examination centers in the country and abroad, which had to be canceled last month amid controversies arising due to paper leak.

NTA said in a statement after the smooth completion of the re-examination that it was not just an examination but an example of the collective effort of ‘Team India’, in which central and state governments, security agencies, various ministries, educational institutions and lakhs of officials came together to ensure a fair and smooth examination for more than 20 lakh candidates.

NTA said in a detailed post shared on social media platform The examination was conducted in 13 languages ​​including Hindi and English.

NTA said that this was not just an effort of the agency, but a series of ‘Team India’ in which thousands of people across the country took up their responsibility so that on the day of the examination, every candidate’s entire attention was focused only on the question paper.

Special arrangements for more than 10,000 disabled candidates

According to the agency, special arrangements were made for more than 10,000 disabled candidates. Apart from this, separate arrangements were also made for about 81 such students who were facing serious medical conditions. These included a student injured in a road accident and a student undergoing chemotherapy. NTA said that a special level of planning and coordination was required to provide examination facilities to these candidates.

The examination was conducted under close surveillance of CCTV.

To ensure security and transparency of the examination, Aadhaar based biometric and face authentication, CCTV surveillance, jammers and two-tier frisking system with the help of state police were implemented. Command and control centers were set up at the national level in NTA and Ministry of Education for CCTV monitoring. Apart from this, monitoring system was also made in 34 centrally funded institutions of Higher Education Department, all the states and district collector offices.

NTA said that many institutions including Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Ministry of External Affairs, Department of Posts, Indian Air Force, Home Ministry, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, National Informatics Center (NIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Education cooperated in conducting the examination. Along with this, SBI, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank and UCO Bank were also part of this campaign.

Also, ambulances and medical facilities were kept on standby and in many states, free transport facilities were also provided to the candidates on the day of examination.

According to NTA, around seven lakh officers, policemen, invigilators and examination personnel were deployed across the country for this massive examination event. The entire process was completed in a record 37 days. The agency also expressed its gratitude to the academicians and experts who used their personal time to prepare several sets of question papers.
