Ayodhya/Lucknow, June 21. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the theft of offerings in the Ram temple in Ayodhya is likely to submit its initial report to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday. The team had reached the capital Lucknow on Sunday evening to meet CM Yogi, but due to his busy schedule, the meeting could not take place.

According to sources, SIT has secured data in 7 pen drives. The names of 150 suspects have emerged in the first six days of investigation. Of these, action is likely to be taken against 25 people. Those who have been interrogated by the SIT have been warned not to go out anywhere till further orders. These also include Shri Ram Mandir Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra.
The SIT interrogated Ramshankar Yadav alias Tinnu, who had influence in the Ram temple and was Champat Rai’s driver, almost every day. The team has also obtained information about his close relatives, relatives and their properties.
In these six days, the team carefully examined each and every point including many important documents like CCTV footage, in-depth information regarding the offerings, method of counting the offerings, method of taking the money to the bank. On the sixth day, Saturday, the team obtained information about the bank accounts of all the accused and suspects. In the same sequence, the investigation team also interrogated the employees of Ram temple. After investigation and interrogation, the team took all the evidence with itself to Lucknow.
Checked records till 2021
The SIT also investigated matters related to the use of temple donation funds, unnecessary expenses and land purchase. Old records till 2021 were also searched. Bank officials were also interrogated. According to sources, action is almost certain against Trust General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Dr. Anil Mishra. Both can be removed from their posts. Apart from this, temple construction in-charge Gopal Rao can also be removed from his post.
Rs 2 crore recovered so far
Sources also say that in the offering theft case, recovery of Rs 2 crore has been made so far at the behest of five people – Lavkush, Avnish, Anukalp, Karune and Ramshankar alias Tinnu. All of them were involved in the duty of counting donations in the temple. Gold was found on June 13 from the house of Temple Trust employee Tinnu. However, the amount of gold is not yet confirmed.
