‘NEET UG 2026’ exam cancelled, CBI will investigate paper leak
NTA will announce the next exam dates soon
New Delhi. The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Tuesday announced the cancellation of the medical entrance exam ‘NEET-UG-2026’ held on May 3 and said that the exam will be conducted again. It said allegations of irregularities related to the examination would be thoroughly investigated by the CBI.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) said in a statement that the decision has been taken in the interest of maintaining transparency and maintaining confidence in the national examination system. Based on fact-checking by NTA in collaboration with central agencies and investigative information shared by law enforcement agencies, the National Testing Agency has decided to cancel the NEET (UG) 2026 examination held on May 3, 2026 with the approval of the Government of India and re-conduct the examination.
The agency said that based on the information received and findings shared by law enforcement agencies, it has become clear that it is not appropriate to continue the current examination process. The dates of the examination and the schedule of admit cards to be issued for them will be informed through the official channels of the agency in the next few days.
NTA said that the government has decided to hand over the case to CBI for a comprehensive investigation into the allegations related to the examination. NTA will extend full cooperation to CBI and provide all materials, records and assistance required for the investigation.
