NEET-UG Exam: NTA extended the duration of NEET exam, now candidates will get 15 minutes extra
New Delhi. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to extend the exam time by 15 minutes to make the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG)-2026 exam more student-friendly. NTA issued a public notice on Friday saying that keeping in mind the convenience of the candidates in the examination to be held on June 21, the total duration of the examination has been increased to 195 minutes. Now the exam will be held from 2 pm to 5.15 pm.
The space for rough work also increased
This additional time will also include the time for signing the attendance sheet and other mandatory formalities, so that students will not feel any shortage in the actual examination time. Apart from this, the space available for rough work in the question booklet has also been increased. Whereas earlier only two rough work pages were provided, now four rough work pages will be provided to the students. This will provide more convenience in doing calculations, diagrams and other work.
NTA also changed the design of question booklet
NTA has also changed the design of the question booklet. Earlier, all the rough work pages were given at the end of the booklet but many candidates, especially left-handed students, found this inconvenient. To solve this problem, two rough work pages will now be given at the beginning immediately after the instruction page and two pages at the end of the booklet. This system will be applicable in both English and regional language versions.
The agency says that these small improvements made in the examination system will help in improving the examination experience of the candidates. These changes aim to make the examination process more seamless, convenient and student-centric, while also maintaining high standards of fairness and security.
