Digvijay Singh has written a letter to Narendra Modi demanding action on the cases of alleged question paper leaks and irregularities in the NEET-UG examination. He has urged the government to investigate all the examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency in the last eight years.

New Delhi: The political debate has once again intensified regarding paper leaks and alleged irregularities related to NEET-UG, India’s most important medical entrance examination. Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijaya Singh has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding release of a white paper on this entire matter.

He said that the irregularities, paper leak cases and the status of investigation revealed in the examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the last eight years should be made public in a transparent manner, so that the students have confidence in the education system.

Appeal to restore students’ confidence

In his letter, Digvijay Singh said that lakhs of students are facing severe stress and uncertainty regarding the examination system. According to him, repeated paper leaks and ambiguity in the investigation procedures have deeply affected the mental health of students. He wrote that unless the government shows complete transparency, it will be difficult to restore the trust of the students.

There is also controversy regarding NEET-UG 2026 exam. The exam had to be canceled earlier amid allegations of paper leak and is now being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In view of the situation, the government has set the date of re-examination as June 21. This entire incident has raised concerns among students and parents across the country.

Questions on the role of investigating agencies

Digvijay Singh said in his letter that at present there is no integrated public record available of investigations related to paper leak cases. He alleged that different reports come out regarding the action of CBI and other agencies, which creates confusion. Giving examples, he said that in some cases the accused are out on bail, while in some cases closure reports have been filed, but there is no clarity on these procedures.

Main demands of the white paper

The Congress leader has demanded the government to release a detailed white paper, which should include the following information:

  • List of paper leaks and irregularities in NTA exams in the last eight years
  • Details of action taken by investigating agencies in each case
  • Status report of arrested persons and accused
  • Reasons for cases in which closure report was filed
  • Current legal status of all cases (bail, trial, conviction etc.)

He said that this step will not only increase transparency but will also strengthen trust among students. Digvijay Singh also said in his letter that the biggest impact of frequent irregularities in the examination system is on the mental health of the students. He said that many students are living under constant stress, uncertainty and worry about the future. According to him, it is the responsibility of the government to maintain stability and confidence in the education system.
