New Bike: New model of KTM 790 Duke unveiled, will be entered with better design and control
New Bike: KTM has introduced its popular middleweight streetfighter bike 790 Duke with a major update. Although no changes have been made to the engine of the bike, many significant improvements have been made in its design, ergonomics, suspension, braking setup and handling. The company claims that with the new changes the bike has become more comfortable, better controlled and lighter than before.
Big change in design and ergonomics
The new KTM 790 Duke has now been given a design inspired by the 990 Duke and 1390 Super Duke R. The bike has a new LED headlight, large front cowl, slim body panel and new shaped fuel tank.
The handlebar position has been changed to improve the riding experience, giving the rider a more open and comfortable riding stance. Apart from this, the position of the footpegs for both the rider and the pillion has been changed. The seat has also been redesigned, providing greater comfort on long distance journeys.
Better control and lighter weight than before
KTM has given the bike a new subframe, updated triple clamps and a revised fuel tank, which provides better feedback and control at the front wheel.
According to the company, the weight of the new 790 Duke has been reduced by 2 kg compared to the previous model, which has improved its handling and agility.
There was no change in the engine
Like before, the new KTM 790 Duke has a 799cc LC8c parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine. This engine conforms to Euro 5+ emission standards and generates maximum power of 105 horsepower and peak torque of 87Nm.
The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and slip-and-assist clutch. The company has also updated the design of the exhaust and silencer.
Suspension setup got better
The bike continues to use WP APEX suspension units, but these have been made more advanced than before.
The front has a 43mm upside-down (USD) fork, in which compression and rebound damping can be adjusted. At the rear, monoshock suspension is available, in which the facility of preload and rebound adjustment is provided.
Company will remove demo mode
KTM has also announced based on customer feedback that the Demo Mode feature will be removed in upcoming models. The company believes that this will further improve the user experience.
Launch and availability in India
Sales of the new KTM 790 Duke will begin in international markets from late July 2026. However, KTM India has not yet made any official announcement regarding its launch in the Indian market.
Currently, 890 Duke R is sold by KTM in the Indian market, whose ex-showroom price is ₹ 14.50 lakh (Delhi). In such a situation, it is expected that the new 790 Duke can also be introduced for Indian customers in the future.
The new KTM 790 Duke has become more attractive and rider-friendly than ever with its updated design, improved ergonomics, lighter weight and advanced suspension setup. Although there are no changes to the engine, other improvements make it a stronger contender in the middleweight performance bike segment.
