Technology Desk: WhatsApp is continuously introducing new features for its users. Now the company has made the Events feature more useful than before. After the new update, users will be able to send event invitations even to those who do not have an account on WhatsApp. For this you just have to share the link of the event.
The special thing is that the person receiving the invitation will not need to download WhatsApp or create an account to RSVP. Apart from this, the company has also introduced a new feature called Events Home. Here users will be able to manage all their old and upcoming events at one place. According to the company, these new features will be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks.
What changed in WhatsApp Events?
WhatsApp first introduced the Events feature for Communities in May 2024. With its help, users could create an event and invite other members. Later this feature was also started for WhatsApp group chats. Through this, users could tell whether they would attend any program or not.
Now the company has made many new changes in this feature. The biggest change is the facility to share event links. Now users can create an event and send its link even to those who do not use WhatsApp. This will make it easier to invite people for a party, meeting or other event.
You can give RSVP even without WhatsApp account
After the new update, it will not be necessary for people attending the event to have a WhatsApp account. First of all, the user will be able to create his event on WhatsApp. After this he can add the cover photo of the event and share its link with others.
The person receiving the invitation will be able to give his RSVP by opening the link. That means he will be able to tell whether he will participate in the program or not. The person creating the event will also get information about how many people are going to attend the event. This will make it easier to prepare for the event. The special thing is that guest users will not need to download the app or create a WhatsApp account to RSVP.
WhatsApp launches Events Home
WhatsApp has also introduced a new feature called Events Home. It has been designed as a centralized hub to manage events. With its help, users will be able to view and manage all their events at one place. It will also show those events which the user has created himself or to which he has been invited. Many facilities will be available in Events Home.
Users will be able to create custom invitations for their events. Will be able to manage RSVPs for upcoming events. Will be able to set reminder for the program. You will be able to add plus-one i.e. one extra person with you in any event.
You will be able to see the list of old and upcoming events.
To use this feature, users will have to go to Settings of WhatsApp. On selecting the Events option here, the list of events will appear.
Guest users' phone numbers will not be shared
WhatsApp has also given information regarding the privacy of guest users. According to the company, when a user sends an event invitation to a person without a WhatsApp account, his phone number will not be shared. However, the guest user will see the event address only after he/she submits the RSVP of the invitation. With this, the information and privacy of the people attending the event can be taken care of.
WhatsApp Events Home is like Snapchat's feature
WhatsApp's new Events Home is much like Snapchat's Plans feature. Snapchat has also launched event management facility for users. With the help of such features, users do not need to visit different pages. They can manage their events and invitations from one place.
When will you get the new update of WhatsApp?
WhatsApp has said that the new Events features will be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks. However, it may take some time for the update to reach all users. After receiving the update, users will be able to use features like sharing event links, taking RSVPs from people without accounts, and managing their events through Events Home.
