NHAI’s new facility, now make digital local toll pass from home, travel unlimited for a month

RajmargYatra App: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a new feature that provides significant relief to residents living near toll plazas. It states that residents living within a 20-kilometer radius of a toll plaza will now be able to obtain a digital local pass from home using the RajmargYatra mobile app. This pass allows unlimited travel through the respective toll plaza for up to a month. The purpose of this new system is to save time and make the toll pass process completely digital.

No need to visit the toll plaza now

Previously, to obtain a local pass, people had to visit the toll plaza and submit their identity and address documents. This process often required timely verification and repeated visits. However, the entire process has now been made online. NHAI has stated that with the Local Pass feature, eligible individuals can apply for a pass from their mobile phone within a few minutes. However, for now, this facility has been launched at the Mundka-Bakkarwala toll plaza on Delhi’s Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2). It will be implemented at other toll plazas across the country in the coming months.

Instant Verification Through DigiLocker and Vahan

To make this new system easier and faster, NHAI has integrated it with government digital platforms like DigiLocker and Vahan. Upon receiving the vehicle owner’s consent, their address, vehicle number, and FASTag-related information will be automatically verified. This will largely eliminate the need for document uploads and manual verification.

In addition, GIS (Geographic Information System)-based technology will be used to determine local pass eligibility. This technology will verify whether the applicant actually lives within a 20-kilometer radius of the toll plaza. This is expected to make the entire process more transparent, faster, and accurate.

Marg Mitra: All toll services available in one place

NHAI has also launched a new help center, Marg Mitra, for the convenience of travelers. This help center will be available within the HighwayYatra app. Users can easily access information related to FASTag recharge, KYC, refund status, local passes, annual passes, and other toll-related services. Anyone needing to lodge a complaint or provide suggestions can also do so through this platform. This step by NHAI towards Digital India will not only simplify toll services but also save time and effort for millions of local travelers.
