Nissan Tekton: Engine, Gearbox and Power Details
According to official sources and information leaked during testing, the new Nissan Tecton will be launched in the market with two strong petrol engine options. Its first option is a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which is capable of generating maximum power of 100hp and torque of 166Nm. This engine will be a better option for those customers who give priority to mileage and daily commuting.
For performance lovers, the company is going to offer another big option, 1.3-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine. This powerful engine will give power of 163hp and torque of 280Nm. Talking about transmission, 6-speed manual gearbox will be available as standard with both engine options. Apart from this, customers will also be given the premium option of 6-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) automatic gearbox with the more powerful 1.3-litre engine.
How powerful will it be in features and safety?
This SUV will be based on the new platform of Renault Duster, but its design is inspired by Nissan’s flagship SUV ‘Patrol’. C-shaped connected LED DRLs and a large attractive grille will be seen in the front of the car. At the same time, the 18-inch alloy wheels in the side profile and the rear door handles hidden in the window line give it a muscular 3-door look.
Inside the cabin, customers can expect to find a long list of advanced features, which mainly include:
- Large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay)
- 10.25-inch fully digital driver display
- Panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats
- For safety, 6 airbags, 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System)
Impact on Indian market and potential price
Nissan India is currently relying mainly on its sub-compact SUV Magnite and the recently launched Gravite MPV in the Indian market. With the arrival of Tecton, customers will get a new and strong option in the midsize segment. As soon as it enters the market, it will compete directly with established cars like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Tata Curve. According to auto experts, its starting ex-showroom price can be kept between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 11 lakh.
