Discussion was held regarding election strategy and public relations at the grassroots level.
New Delhi. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Naveen held the first meeting with the newly appointed national office-bearers of the party on Saturday in which election strategy and public relations at the grassroots level were discussed. According to sources, the meeting focused specifically on preparations for the upcoming assembly elections, strengthening the party at the booth level and taking the government's schemes and initiatives to the public.
He said that more meetings are proposed during the day, in which Chief Ministers, State Presidents and State Incharges of BJP ruled states will attend. The BJP had earlier this week announced a new national team under the leadership of Nitin Naveen. It includes a total of 65 officials, of which 51 are new faces.
The new team includes 13 national vice-presidents, including former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia and former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary Ram Madhav. At the same time, former Union Minister Smriti Irani has been appointed one of the eight national general secretaries.
B.L. Santosh has been retained as national general secretary (organisation), while Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal remain as general secretaries. The new BJP team includes 12 women and six leaders belonging to minority communities. Union Minister Piyush Goyal has been made the national treasurer of the party. Even before this, he had held this post before the formation of Narendra Modi government in May 2014.
BJP has removed its Information Technology Department chief Amit Malviya from the post and appointed Deepak Mhaske from Chhattisgarh in his place. At the same time, Hemang Joshi of Gujarat has been made the president of the party Yuva Morcha. He has replaced Lok Sabha MP Tejashwi Surya.
This organizational change is the biggest change in more than a decade after the major reshuffle in 2015 during the tenure of then BJP President Amit Shah. After this reshuffle, speculations regarding possible Union Cabinet expansion have also increased.
