Dr. Balbir Singh said that he was informed by the villagers that a person was supplying drugs in the village. As soon as he got the information, he immediately sent his security personnel to the village and reached the spot himself. He strictly instructed the police not to be lenient with any person involved in drug trafficking and to take strict action as per law.

The Health Minister said that under the 'War on Drugs' campaign launched by the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, along with strict action against drug traffickers, the victims of drug addiction are also being given opportunities for treatment and rehabilitation. He said that if a drug addict is ready to bring out the truth and give up drugs, the government will provide all possible assistance to get him treated and make him skilled and employable.

He said that the Punjab government has a clear message that drug traffickers will not be spared at any cost, while drug addicts will be brought into the mainstream through treatment, counseling and rehabilitation.

Dr. Balbir Singh appealed to the people to immediately share any information regarding drug trafficking or supply of drugs with the police. Appreciating the information given by the villagers, he said that the campaign to make Punjab drug free can be strengthened only with the support of the people. DSP Jangjit Singh Randhawa was also present on this occasion.
