No Insurance No Fuel: If you also fill petrol and diesel in your car, bike or any other vehicle, then now there is a slight update in the rules. According to media reports, now if you do not have valid third party motor insurance then petrol will not be filled in your vehicle. If you drive a car without insurance, it will become difficult for you to drive on the road.
Insurance regulator IRDAI is preparing a pilot project of such a system, through which the number plate will be scanned before filling petrol and diesel and the insurance of the car or bike will be ascertained. Now under the new rules, both two wheelers and four wheelers can be affected.
Number plates will be scanned at petrol pumps
Under the pilot project being made by IRDAI, now the number plates of all the vehicles coming to the petrol pump can be scanned through ANPR cameras. With this, it will be very easy to find out whether your vehicle is insured or not. The validity of the policy can be checked by matching the vehicle number with the insurance record. If your car or bike is insured then you will get petrol otherwise it is possible that you will not be given fuel at the petrol pump.
56 percent of vehicles in the country do not have insurance
According to media reports, about 56% of the total vehicles registered in India do not even have third-party insurance as mandated by law. The largest number of these are two-wheelers and commercial vehicles plying in rural areas. It is believed that with the help of the new pilot project being made by IRDAI, the screws on such vehicles can be tightened to a great extent and the transparency of insurance can also be increased. Now it will be necessary for customers to renew insurance from time to time.
