No more than 200 liters of petrol and diesel! Know how much effect the new rule will have on your pocket
Knews Desk- Amid Iran-America tensions and fears of a possible fuel crisis, the central government has taken a major decision regarding the sale of petrol and diesel. According to the new notification, now more than 200 liters of fuel can be sold from retail petrol pumps only to authorized categories of customers. This rule is currently implemented for 90 days.
The government says the move is aimed at preventing fuel hoarding, increasing transparency in the supply chain and maintaining a clear distinction between retail and wholesale sales. Under the new rule, construction companies, mining companies, factories, large transport operators and institutions using diesel generators on a large scale will not be able to purchase large quantities of fuel directly from retail pumps. They have to use authorized bulk supply channels.
However, common consumers do not need to worry about this rule. There will be no impact on bike, car, SUV and other personal vehicle owners. Farmers and small businessmen purchasing limited quantities of fuel will also remain out of the purview of this rule. The new system may also impact housing societies that purchase large quantities of fuel for diesel generators. Such societies may now be treated as bulk consumers and may have to source fuel from the authorized supply system.
The government has clarified that strict action will be taken against petrol pumps and dealers violating the rules. Selling fuel in excess of the prescribed limit may result in licensing action, fines or other regulatory measures.
