No Open Prayers Or Animal Sacrifice In Public: UP CM Yogi issues strict directives ahead of Bakrid 2026

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a series of directives ahead of Eid al-Adha (Bakrid), asking district administrations and police officials to ensure strict compliance with law and order measures during the festival.

The instructions were issued during a high-level review meeting held on Sunday, where officials were directed to remain alert and maintain peace across the state during the celebrations scheduled for May 28.

No Open Prayers or Public Sacrifice

The Chief Minister directed that namaz should be offered only within designated mosque premises and not in open public spaces or on roads.

Officials were also instructed to ensure that roads are not blocked during prayers. In areas with large gatherings, authorities were advised to organize prayers in shifts to avoid overcrowding.

CM Yogi further ordered that animal sacrifice should not be conducted in open areas under any circumstances. He also reiterated that the sacrifice of banned animals would not be permitted.

Bakrid 2026: CM Yogi’s 10 key directives

  1. Namaz should be offered only within mosque premises
  2. No open-air prayers under any circumstances
  3. Roads must not be blocked for prayers
  4. If crowds are large, prayers should be held in shifts
  5. No form of animal sacrifice shall take place in open areas.
  6. The sacrifice of banned animals is strictly prohibited
  7. Do not litter or create filth following the sacrifices
  8. A close watch must be kept on miscreants.
  9. Police forces must remain deployed at Eidgahs
  10. Surveillance using CCTV cameras and drones must be conducted in sensitive areas

Focus on Law and Order

The state government directed police officials and district magistrates to remain on high alert during the festival period. Authorities have been asked to closely monitor sensitive areas and keep strict vigil on individuals attempting to disturb communal harmony.

Adequate police deployment has been ordered at Eidgahs, mosques and other important locations across the state.

CCTV and Drone Surveillance Ordered

To strengthen security arrangements, the government has instructed officials to use CCTV monitoring and drone surveillance in sensitive districts and crowded areas.

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness during Bakrid celebrations. Local authorities were directed to ensure proper sanitation arrangements and prevent unhygienic conditions following animal sacrifice.

Municipal bodies have been asked to remain prepared for waste disposal and cleaning operations in urban and rural areas. The Uttar Pradesh government said all departments would work in coordination to ensure peaceful and orderly celebrations across the state.
