Noida International Airport: Commercial flights will fly from Jewar from June 15, Indigo will fly the first flight.

Noida. Noida International Airport (NIA) will start operating commercial flights from June 15. NIA announced this on Friday. According to the statement of the airport operator, the first passenger flight will be operated by IndiGo, after which Akasa Air and Air India Express will also start operations soon.

The step has been taken after the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and approval of the Airport Security Program (ASP) from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), the statement said. This approval confirms that the airport’s security systems, infrastructure and operating procedures are in compliance with regulatory standards before commencing commercial services. The company said that detailed information related to flight timings, destinations and passenger facilities will be released soon.

Developed keeping in mind the increasing demand for air travel in the National Capital Region and Western Uttar Pradesh, the airport is equipped with modern terminal infrastructure and efficient operations. The airport aims to provide a seamless experience to passengers, as well as provide cost-efficient and reliable operational facilities to airline companies.

According to officials, the commencement of commercial operations will boost regional connectivity and support economic growth, trade, tourism and investment. Noida International Airport will connect Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh to major domestic and international destinations. And currently there is one runway and one passenger terminal, which has an annual capacity of 1.2 crore passengers. Under the long-term master plan, there is a plan to increase its capacity to more than seven crore passengers in a phased manner during the concession period.
