Finance Minister Swapan Dasgupta announced the plan in the first state budget of the BJP government. Mithun Chakraborty visited Sundarbans on Sunday. On this day, he said, “Many places have zoos. But ours is Sundarbans. Such a beautiful place. There are no zoos here for tourists to visit. Because, the biggest attraction here is the Royal Bengal Tiger. Once you visit him, all visits are over.” He said, “An artificial zoo in the Sundarbans will lose its importance. The tiger should be seen in its own forest.” On this day, Mithun Chakraborty told about the new ideas of the new government. “We have thought of aerial tiger viewing. Plans are underway to show tigers using small aircraft that can fly silently or drone-based systems or low-noise helicopters. So that tigers are not harmed,” Mithun said.
The tourism industry needs to improve the communication system the most. So there is talk of building a railway line from Canning to Gadkhali. MLA Vikarna Naskar said, “To develop the tourism industry, its communication system is very important.” Adds Mithun, “Gadkhali is the gateway to Sundarbans. There is also permission for railways up to Gadkhali. If that happens, then tourists will come to a certain place and from there they will tour Sundarbans by water. Then there will be a revolution in the tourism industry.” After the tiger safari from the island, Mithun added, “The joy you get after going to the island, you won't find it anywhere else. No one bothers you. Stayed there for two nights, did the tiger safari every morning and evening, did the dolphin safari. Then sat down. Went there too. Did the religious tour and came back. A 3-day package.” That is, a 3-day full tour of Sundarbans with accommodation, jungle safari, dolphin watching and visiting religious sites is being considered.
