Now Aadhaar card will not be accepted as proof of date of birth; UIDAI has changed the rules
New Delhi : Aadhar CardA big update has come out. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued a circular clarifying that the Aadhaar card should no longer be considered as proof of birth. Aadhaar card can prove your identity. However, you do not have a date of birth.
Aadhaar is only proof of your identity and residence, it is not considered as an official document for age verification. Citizens were widely using Aadhaar as proof of date of birth for banking, school admissions or government schemes. However, during Aadhaar registration, the date of birth is often recorded as an estimate or without any concrete documentation. Hence this date is not completely accurate as per government records. Due to this technical glitch, courts and various government departments have refused to accept Aadhaar as the ultimate proof of age.
As per UIDAI norms, date of birth in Aadhaar is considered verified on the basis of these documents. This rule is not new, but now it has been clarified. Earlier people used Aadhaar for almost everything, but now you need to be a little more careful.
What is the official letter for date of birth?
– Birth Certificate : The most primary and reliable proof.
– 10th Mark Sheet : Official Board Certificate.
– Passport: Internationally accepted proof.
– School Certificate : Certificate from school or college.
– Certificate issued by Government Officer : Official Date of Birth Certificate.
