Now Thakurji’s offering will be digital, new system implemented in Banke Bihari temple

Mathura/Vrindavan:After the incident of theft of money offered in Ayodhya’s Ram temple, the administration of Thakur Banke Bihari temple located in Vrindavan has become completely alert. Digital systems are being promoted to further strengthen the security arrangements in the temple as well as to ensure transparency in the donation process. In this series, QR codes have now been installed on the donation boxes of the temple premises, through which devotees will be able to donate directly online.

Emphasis on digital donation instead of cash

The temple management believes that the digital donation system will reduce the challenges related to maintenance and security of cash. For this, the security personnel deployed in the temple premises have also been instructed to motivate the devotees to adopt digital medium instead of making cash offerings. Devotees can now easily send donations to the temple account by scanning the QR code from their mobile phones.

SBI machine installed

To smoothly operate the online donation system, a machine of State Bank of India (SBI) has been installed in the temple office. According to the temple administration, in view of the increasing need, another machine will soon be installed, so that the donation process can become more convenient. This will also make it easier to monitor and record digital transactions.

Awareness boards will be installed in the temple premises

The high-powered management committee constituted by the Supreme Court is also playing an active role in making this new system successful. The committee is preparing to install such information boards in the temple premises, through which devotees will be informed about the benefits and process of online donation. The aim of the administration is to connect more and more devotees with digital payments.

Percentage of online donations increased in four months

Vice Chairman of the High Power Committee, Mukesh Mishra said that after the implementation of the digital donation system, positive response is being received from the devotees. There has been a significant increase in the number of devotees donating online during the last four months. At present, about 20 percent of the total offerings received by the temple are coming through digital medium.

Transparency and security will both be strengthened

The temple administration says that through the QR code based donation system, the amount of offering will reach the bank account directly, which will increase transparency and reduce the possibility of any kind of irregularity. Besides, the security system will also become stronger due to reduction in cash movement. This step taken after the case of theft in Ram temple is being considered an example for the major religious places of the country also.
