New Delhi:There is a relief news for the passengers traveling in the metro. Now even before the arrival of the train, we will know which compartment is crowded and which compartment has relatively more space available. Keeping in mind the convenience of the passengers, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has extended the system of real-time crowd indication of coaches on the Pink Line also. Earlier this facility was being operated successfully on Magenta Line.
With the implementation of this new system, it will be easier for passengers to stand on the platform and choose the less crowded compartment of their choice. This facility will prove to be very helpful especially during the morning and evening rush hours.
Sensors will tell the condition of every compartment
Under this technology, weight measuring sensors installed in each compartment of the metro estimate the crowd present in the compartment based on the weight of the passengers. After this, the percentage of the passengers' weight is calculated by comparing it with the prescribed weight of the empty compartment. This information is displayed on the passenger information screens C-1 to C-6 installed on the platform just before the arrival of the train. Due to the circular route of the Pink Line, it was challenging to implement this technology, but DMRC has successfully started it by developing a system to interconnect the data.
Division of crowd, comfort in travel
This initiative will reduce the problem of excessive crowding in any one compartment. Passengers will save time, get convenience in boarding and de-boarding and can make better use of the available space. DMRC says that this is an important step towards connecting passenger facilities with modern technology.
