NSA Ajit Doval spoke in Moscow, gave a big statement on the security of Global South and international waterways

Addressing the ‘First International Security Forum’ and ’14th Meeting of High Representatives for Security Affairs’ in Moscow on Thursday, Doval made it clear that any kind of double standards can no longer be tolerated in the global fight against terrorism. According to an official statement, NSA Ajit Doval participated in this high-level meeting organized by veteran Russian security officer Sergei Shoigu on May 28. Main topic of this year’s forum "Challenges and threats to international security in the context of the rise of a multipolar world" (Challenges and Threats to International Security in the Context of a Multipolar World) was held, where India showed a mirror to the world on the security front. Time for decisive action against sponsors of terrorism. Addressing this gathering of top representatives of security affairs, Ajit Doval gave advice to responsible countries around the world. He said that now the time has come when global powers and responsible nations will have to take a clear decision whether they indirectly support the sponsors of terrorism or take decisive action and confront them firmly. Doval stressed that there is a dire need for a unified global response to deal with the threats of terrorism. Demand for immediate reforms in the United Nations and global institutions: In his address, NSA Doval also raised serious questions on the existing structure of global institutions (such as the United Nations and the Security Council) which were established after the end of the Second World War in 1945. He said that these decades-old frameworks now need urgent and deep reform to make them more effective and relevant in dealing with today’s contemporary international security challenges. ‘Global South’ should get proper representation and respect. Ajit Doval, while strengthening the voice of developing and poor countries on international forums, said that the countries of ‘Global South’ should get maximum representation through reforms in global institutions. He demanded that the views and interests of these countries should be included on priority in the processes of taking major and global decisions related to the world, only then it is possible to build a secure and balanced and just world. Concern over the security of sea lanes and international waterways Highlighting the ongoing tension and crisis in West Asia (Middle East), Doval also prominently raised the issue of security of international trade and sea routes. Drawing the attention of global leaders, he said that it is extremely important to ensure safe and uninterrupted movement of merchant ships passing through important international waterways like the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea. Any negligence in this security cycle can cause huge damage to the global economy. According to the information, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is also going to hold separate bilateral meetings with key security officials of many member countries during this two-day (28 and 29 May) forum, in which India’s strategic interests will be discussed.
