Lucknow. New possibilities are going to be created for the students preparing to study nursing in Uttar Pradesh. The state government has taken steps towards starting new government nursing colleges. B.Sc Nursing will be taught in these institutions and there will be a provision of 60 seats in each college.
Under the government plan, there can be an increase of about 840 seats in B.Sc Nursing in the state if studies start in these nursing colleges affiliated to autonomous state medical colleges. Their operation is proposed from the academic session 2027-28.
In which districts will the benefit be available?
Under the new system, nursing colleges are to be developed in the government medical colleges of Mirzapur, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Kushinagar, Siddharthnagar, Amethi, Sultanpur, Etah, Ghazipur, Sonbhadra, Kaushambi, Lalitpur, Lakhimpur Kheri and Bijnor districts of UP.
Who will run the colleges?
These institutions will be operated through the respective autonomous state medical colleges. Principals of colleges have been asked to ensure adherence to the standards and instructions of regulatory institutions related to nursing courses.
At present, B.Sc Nursing is being taught in 23 colleges of the state, while a large number of institutions are also running in the private sector. With the opening of new government colleges, another step will be taken towards increasing opportunities for nursing education at the government level.
