Hyderabad. Two Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Legislative Council members (MLCs) were arrested on Tuesday for making objectionable remarks against Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. Police gave this information.
A police officer said that Thatha Madhusudan and N. A case was registered against Naveen Kumar Reddy under relevant sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, after which both were taken into custody. A major political controversy had erupted on Monday over the allegations of Madhusudan making objectionable remarks against Dalit leader and Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had termed the alleged comment as an insult to the four crore people of Telangana. However, Madhusudan denied making any comment against the Assembly Speaker. Several Dalit MLAs and Legislative Council members of the Congress alleged that BRS MLC Madhusudan had made objectionable remarks against Assembly Speaker Prasad Kumar. It is alleged that these comments were made at a time when the police had stopped the opposition MLAs from entering the assembly premises.
