Obsession Box Office Collection: Earned ₹90 crore in 23 days, step towards becoming the first 100 crore Hollywood film of the year 2026

The year 2026 has reached a very interesting point in terms of Hollywood cinema and box office. This year, big films like ‘Michael’ and ‘Project Hail Mary’ were released and caught the attention of the audience, but this time a new horror film has emerged as a real sensation at the box office – ‘Obsession’. This film has surprised both trade analysts and makers with its stormy earnings. Within just 23 days of its release, this horror thriller has written a new history of success at the Indian box office. The craze increased again on the weekend, earning an average of ₹ 2 crore every day. Even after spending more than three weeks in theatres, the craze of ‘Obsession’ is not showing signs of decreasing. The film is currently making very strong collections of around Rs 2 crore on an average every day in Indian theatres. Last Saturday, the film’s collection once again saw a big jump and it earned a grand total of Rs 2.20 crore. At the same time, the film also got the benefit of Sunday holiday and its shows were seen housefull, due to which an even greater increase has been registered in the Sunday collection. The journey started with 900 shows, now capturing the box office with 3000 shows. The success story of ‘Obsession’ is surprising because it got a very cold start on the first day of its release and less than 900 shows were given across the country. But due to the film’s positive word-of-mouth and tremendous suspense-horror among the audience, the demand for its shows increased rapidly. Theater owners have increased its shows from first 2400 shows to around 3000 shows per day, which is a huge record for any Hollywood horror film in India. What history will it create? According to the latest report of box office tracker website Sacnilk, which is very close to breaking the record of ‘Project Hail Mary’, ‘Obsession’ has performed better than expected in India in 23 days of release: Net Collection: The net collection of the film in India has touched the figure of ₹ 70 crores. Gross Collection: The total (gross) collection of the film including taxes and other charges has crossed ₹90 crore. With this stellar performance, ‘Obsession’ has come very close to breaking the record of ‘Project Hail Mary’, which was the biggest Hollywood film in India in the year 2026. ‘Project Hail Mary’ had made a lifetime net collection of ₹75 crore in the Indian market, which ‘Obsession’ will easily cross this week. 2026 was dull compared to 2025, will ‘Obsession’ end the drought? Let us tell you that last year i.e. 2025 proved to be a blockbuster in terms of earnings of Hollywood films in the Indian market. In the year 2025, mega-budget films like ‘Jurassic Park: Rebirth’, ‘Avatar 3’ and ‘F2’ created a stir in India as soon as they were released and collected more than ₹ 100 crore. On the contrary, even after the first six months of the year 2026 had passed, no Hollywood film was able to enter the Rs 100 crore club at the box office. However, these days, many other domestic and regional horror films are also standing as a challenge to ‘Obsession’ in theatres, but the craze of this film remains at a different level. Now it will be very interesting to see how soon ‘Obsession’, which has made a gross collection of ₹ 90 crore, crosses the magical figure of ₹ 100 crore at the Indian box office and becomes the first Hollywood blockbuster of this year.
