ODI World Cup 2027 : The International Cricket Council (ICC) has approved the proposed schedule for the 2027 Men’s ODI World Cup. This mega tournament will be held from October 4 to November 21 in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. According to the ESPNcricinfo report, these dates were agreed upon at the ICC Board Meeting held in Ahmedabad in May, while the final seal will be given at the ICC Annual General Meeting (AGM) to be held in Edinburgh in July.

Most matches will be held in South Africa
According to the information, out of the total 54 matches of the tournament, at least 41 matches will be played in eight stadiums in South Africa. At the same time, Zimbabwe is likely to host eight to 10 matches, while Namibia will host three matches. This time there will be three venues in Zimbabwe. Apart from Harare Sports Club and Queens Sports Club (Bulawayo), Victoria Falls will also be given hosting rights. The construction of the Fale Mosi-Oa-Tunya International Cricket Stadium in Victoria Falls is expected to be completed this year.
ODI World Cup in Africa after 24 years
The tournament will be the first Men’s ODI World Cup to be held in Africa since 2003. However, South Africa has previously successfully hosted the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2009 Champions Trophy and 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup.

Tournament will return with 14 teams
14 teams will again participate in the 2027 World Cup. Earlier, only 10 teams each participated in the 2019 and 2023 World Cups.
Tournament Format
14 teams will be divided into two groups.
There will be 7-7 teams in each group.
The top three teams from both groups will advance to the Super Six stage.
After this, knockout matches will be played.
South Africa and Zimbabwe will get direct entry as hosts, while Namibia will have to go through the qualification process.
