Lucknow/ New Delhi, 25 June. The 51st anniversary of Emergency is being celebrated in the country. The Emergency is remembered as a dark chapter. After the BJP government came to power at the Centre, this day is also celebrated as ‘Constitution Murder Day’. In this sequence, on the occasion of ‘Constitution Murder Day’ on Thursday, Chief Ministers of many states have given their reaction.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the night of 25 June 1975 is the darkest chapter in the history of Indian democracy, which the country is remembering today as ‘Constitution Murder Day’. The Emergency was the biggest blow to India’s democracy and Constitution. He wrote in the ‘
Rekha Gupta also said that many people who fought to protect democracy faced repression and unbearable torture. This day inspires us to further strengthen our resolve to protect democratic values, constitutional dignity and civil rights.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also saluted all the democracy fighters and patriots who struggled to protect and restore democracy despite torture, repression and persecution during the Emergency. He wrote in the ‘X’ post, “‘Emergency’, considered a dark chapter in the democratic history of India, was imposed on the country by the then Congress government on this day in the year 1975. This was the period when freedom of expression, civil rights and constitutional values were openly suppressed and attempts were made to weaken the democratic institutions.”
Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini wrote, “The day of June 25, 1975 is recorded as a dark chapter in the history of Indian democracy. The emergency imposed on that day in the arrogance of power by the Congress government dealt a serious blow to the basic spirit of the Constitution, civil liberties and democratic values. Today on ‘Constitution Murder Day’, I respectfully salute all those democracy fighters who endured struggle, torture and sacrifice for the restoration of democracy. Did.”
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis posted, “25th June 1975, a dark chapter in India’s democratic history, when constitutional values were trampled and Emergency was imposed on the country. Salute to all the patriots who stood firm against dictatorship and fought tirelessly for the restoration of democracy. Let us reiterate our collective resolve to protect the Constitution and uphold the democratic ideals of independent India.”
