New Delhi, 22 April. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir on the first anniversary. A year ago on this day, at least 26 tourists had lost their lives in that terrifying terrorist attack.
‘The nefarious plans of terrorists will never succeed’
PM Modi said in his post, ‘The entire country stands with the families whose loved ones were killed at the hands of terrorists on April 22, 2025. I am remembering the innocent people who lost their lives in the terrible terrorist attack in Pahalgam on this day last year. He will never be forgotten. My condolences are with the families who are trying to recover from this deep grief. He further said, ‘As a nation, we are united in grief and determination. India will never succumb to any form of terrorism. The nefarious plans of terrorists will never succeed.

He further said, ‘India has faced cross-border terrorism for decades, but today our response is firm, decisive and unwavering. By our determined actions we have proved that any attempt to harm our people or break our unity will be responded to with full force.
26 tourists killed so far in Pahalgam terrorist attack, PM Modi returning after leaving Saudi trip midway
Last year, on this day, terrorists had killed 26 innocent people.
It is noteworthy that on April 22 last year, terrorists had killed 26 people, most of whom were tourists, in Pahalgam, South Kashmir, after asking them about their religion and caste. In response, India launched a military operation on May 7, which was named ‘Operation Sindoor’. In that military operation, many hideouts of terrorists present in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) were attacked and destroyed.
