Karma festival was celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm in Bijapur rural and tribal areas. On this occasion, people of the tribal community worshiped Karam Devta and other gods and goddesses according to their traditional beliefs. After the puja, women and men presented Karma dance in traditional costumes and presented a glimpse of their rich folk culture.
During the program, the villagers kept singing Karma songs and dancing till late night to the tune of traditional musical instruments including Mandar, Dhol, Nagada. The elders informed the new generation about the importance of the tradition of Karma festival, worship of Gods and Goddesses and tribal customs.
Villagers told that Karma festival is an important festival related to faith, nature and community unity of the tribal society. On this occasion, wishes are made for the happiness and prosperity of the family, good harvest and prosperity in the area. A large number of rural women, men and children were present at the place of worship.
Tribal folk songs and traditional dance enthralled the people in the programme. Through the event, the message of preserving the ancient folk traditions and cultural heritage of the area was also given.
During this, the youth pledged to carry forward their traditional culture and customs and said that it is the responsibility of the society to keep its folk traditions and cultural heritage alive even in the era of modernity.
The Karma program organized in Bijpur was organized under the patronage of senior social worker Mewalal Gond, young social worker Munna Singh and young Shiva Singh. A large number of people from tribal society and youth of the area participated in the program.
