Big decision of OnePlus, now new phones will not be launched in Europe and America, know why the company changed its strategy
OnePlus Europe And North America Exit: OnePlus, which was once known as Flagship Killer in the smartphone market, has taken a big decision. Let us tell you that the company has officially confirmed that it will no longer launch its new smartphones in Europe and North America. Which simply means that OnePlus 15 may prove to be the company’s last flagship phone in these markets. There was speculation regarding this decision for the last few months. But the company had earlier denied these reports but now its new announcement has made the picture clear. Due to this, a big change can be seen in the smartphone industry.
Why did OnePlus take this big decision?
Regarding these new decisions, OnePlus said in its official statement, “As part of the change in its global strategy, OnePlus has decided to stop launching new products in Europe and North America.” Let us tell you that since the pandemic, the company’s focus has continuously moved towards India. At the same time, the integration of OnePlus with its parent company Oppo has also increased rapidly.
Now there is a lot of similarity in the software and device strategy of both the companies. Although sales and software support of existing OnePlus smartphones will continue in Europe and the US, new models will not be launched there in the future.
Now the focus will be only on these markets
The report has revealed that currently the new smartphones of OnePlus will be launched only in India and China. Apart from this, with Android 17 update, OnePlus smartphones will shift to Oppo’s ColorOS instead of OxygenOS. Which simply means that in the coming time, the software experience of both the brands can be almost the same. But some reports have come out regarding the future of the company in India also after 2027, in which till now there has been no official confirmation in this regard.
Rising costs become a big challenge in the AI era
Regarding the matter, experts believe that due to the increasing use of AI technology, the prices of essential components like RAM and NAND Flash have increased. RAM alone now accounts for more than 25 percent of the total cost of a flagship smartphone. For this reason many companies are changing their strategy. Asus has already announced to pause its smartphone business while Samsung and Motorola have increased the prices.
Apple has kept the prices stable till now but discussions about price increase with the new iPhone are also increasing. Along with this, this decision of OnePlus will further limit smartphone options in Europe and especially America. In such a situation, the dominance of Samsung and Apple is expected to become stronger in the coming years.
