Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the burgers

  • 1½ lb (680 g) ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 brioche burger buns

Toppings

  • 8 slices bacon, cooked until crispy
  • 4 slices smoked cheddar cheese
  • 12–16 crispy onion rings
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • Lettuce leaves (optional)
  • Sliced tomatoes (optional)
  • Pickle slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently shape into patties. Season both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Grill or cook the patties over medium-high heat for about 4–5 minutes per side, depending on your preferred doneness.
  3. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of smoked cheddar on each patty and cover briefly until melted.
  4. Lightly toast the burger buns.
  5. Spread barbecue sauce on both halves of each bun.
  6. Assemble each burger with lettuce (if using), the cheeseburger patty, two slices of bacon, 3–4 onion rings, tomato, pickles, and a little extra barbecue sauce.
  7. Top with the bun and serve immediately.

Tips

  • Use a smoky barbecue sauce for the best cowboy flavor.
  • Freshly made onion rings stay crisp longer than frozen ones.
  • Add sliced jalapeños for extra heat.
  • Pair with fries, coleslaw, or grilled corn for a complete meal.
