Only e-auto registration in Delhi from next year, petrol will be available on showing PUC
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has taken a major decision on Friday. Under this, three wheelers running on diesel and CNG will be removed from the National Capital Region i.e. NCR in a phased manner. In their place, priority will be given to e-autos and goods carrying vehicles. The Commission decided that from October 1, 2026, only vehicles with valid Pollution Control Certificate (PUC) should be given diesel and petrol.
The 28th meeting of the commission was held on Friday. It was decided that only electric three-wheelers will be registered in Delhi from January 1, 2027. This decision has been taken in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Faridabad and Sonipat from January 1, 2028 and in other districts included in NCR, there will be no registration of three wheelers running on diesel and CNG from January 1, 2019.

Most incidents of stubble burning in Punjab
In the meeting, the Commission reviewed the increase in incidents of stubble burning in Punjab-Haryana between April and May. The Commission said that between April 1 and May 15, 8,986 incidents of stubble burning were reported in Punjab. In the same period last year, only 6,474 cases were reported. Last year, 1503 incidents of stubble burning were reported in Haryana from April 1 to May 15, whereas this time this figure has increased to 3,290. The Commission has directed the concerned state government to take strict action.

Air quality monitoring stations will be increased
The Commission will increase the network of air quality monitoring stations in Delhi NCR. Under this, there is a proposal to establish 16 stations in Haryana, 14 in Delhi, 15 in Uttar Pradesh and one in Rajasthan. With their establishment the total number of stations will increase to 157. Apart from this, a target was set to plant about 4.60 crore trees, bushes and bamboo saplings in the National Capital Region in 2026-27.
