OpenAI Chronicle: Now ChatGPT can see your screen and will understand all the work without telling you, know what is this telepathy feature
News India Live, Digital Desk: Imagine that you are working on a coding project or document and you do not need to tell AI what you are doing. OpenAI’s new feature ‘Chronicle’ does exactly this. Sam Altman describes it as a “telepathy” experience, where the AI automatically understands what you’re doing by ‘reading’ your screen. What is Chronicle and how does it work? It’s a ‘screen-reading memory’ feature that works in the background: Screen capture: This feature takes screenshots of your screen periodically. Cloud processing: These images are stored on OpenAI’s servers. where the AI (through OCR and visual analysis) understands what app, code, or file you’re working on. Local memory: After processing, the AI creates a text summary (Markdown file) that gets stored on your computer. Unprompted context: The next time you ask something (like: “fix this error” or “summarize that file”), the AI will save your previous screen activity Remembers and responds quickly. Chronicle’s 3 biggest features: Understanding ‘This’ and ‘That’: Now you can tell AI to “fix this” or “move on that project.” You won’t need to copy-paste entire files. Workflow Learning: It learns the way you work, the tools you use, and your projects over time. Time Saving: Eliminates the hassle of repeatedly setting context or writing long prompts. Privacy and Security (Privacy Concerns): Since it’s constantly looking at your screen, there are some privacy concerns: Data Storage: Screen Capture They are automatically deleted after 6 hours, but the summary files remain saved on your device. Control: You can pause or disable it whenever you want. It is advisable to keep this off when working with sensitive information (like bank details).
