Rajpal Yadav breaks silence on Rs 5 crore dispute, big revelation of Bhoot Bangla actor
News India Live, Digital Desk: Bollywood’s ‘Comedy King’ Rajpal Yadav is enjoying the success of his film ‘Bhoot Bangla’ these days, but in the meantime he has spoken openly about the most controversial part of his life i.e. going to jail and the loan of Rs 5 crore. In a recent podcast, Rajpal rejected all notions that he was behind bars because he had no money. The actor clearly said that this matter was much more complicated than it appears simple. If the issue of Rs 5 crore had existed, it would have been resolved in 2012 itself. During a conversation in Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Rajpal Yadav replied to those people who often ask whether the actor, who has done more than 250 films, did not even have Rs 5 crore? He said: “This is the real question. The day people understand this depth, they will understand my entire case. I did not go to jail because I did not have money. This was a fight of principles. If it was only an issue of Rs 5 crore, it would have been resolved in the year 2012 itself.” The actor revealed that this controversy started with his first directorial film ‘Ata Pata Lapata’. According to Rajpal, he had already spent Rs 12 crore on the film and the project had reached Rs 22 crore. He claimed that due to this dispute of Rs 5 crore, he lost Rs 17 to 22 crore. He emotionally said that even if enemies are involved in a project, the film should be allowed to be released so that the audience can decide. “Helped out of humanity.” Rajpal Yadav also reacted to the news in which Nawazuddin Siddiqui had called him ‘generous’. Rajpal said that he never boasted of his help. He said, “There are two types of help, one which is known to everyone and one which remains hidden. I have always supported people from my village to Mumbai and that is why today the entire industry stands with me.” What was the whole matter? This controversy is of the year 2010, when Rajpal Yadav had borrowed Rs 5 crore from a Delhi businessman for his film. The matter reached court on charges of check bounce and non-return of money. He was sentenced to jail in the year 2018 and recently in February 2026, he also surrendered in this case, after which he got interim bail. Strong comeback from ‘Bhoot Bangla’. Amidst all the legal battles, Rajpal Yadav has proved with his comedy in ‘Bhoot Bangla’ that he still rules the hearts of the audience. Her chemistry with Akshay Kumar in the film is getting love just like Chhota Pandit of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’.
