The Indian Armed Forces on Thursday commemorated the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor by releasing a powerful montage video revisiting the high-intensity military mission launched after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in 2025.
The video was shared at exactly 1:05 am — the precise time the operation officially began on May 7 last year — highlighting the symbolic importance of the moment.
“Justice Served”: Indian Air Force Shares Tribute Video
The Indian Air Force shared the commemorative video on X with a strong message underscoring India’s anti-terror resolve.
The post described the mission as a moment where “justice was served” and declared that India “forgets nothing and forgives nothing.” The montage also emphasised the speed and precision of the operation, stating that the mission “just took 88 hours.”
The visuals revisited key moments of the coordinated strikes carried out by Indian forces against terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Background: Why Operation Sindoor Was Launched
Operation Sindoor was launched days after the terror attack in Pahalgam in which 26 civilians lost their lives.
Shortly after midnight on May 7, 2025, the Indian Army announced the beginning of the military operation targeting multiple terror camps believed to be involved in planning and supporting attacks against India.
According to official reports, more than 100 terrorists were killed during the operation.
Terror Camps Targeted Across Border
Indian forces carried out precision strikes on nine terror camps located across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The targets reportedly included:
- Sawai Nala Camp
- Syedna Belal Camp
- Gulpur Camp
- Abbas Camp
- Barnala Camp
- In the series Camp
- Mehmoona Joya Camp
- Markaz Taiba
- Subhan Center
Several of these camps were located in Muzaffarabad and Bahawalpur, areas long associated with terror infrastructure.
PM Modi Changes Display Picture, Praises Armed Forces
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also marked the anniversary by updating his display picture on X with visuals dedicated to Operation Sindoor.
In his message, the Prime Minister praised the armed forces for displaying “unparalleled courage, precision and resolve” during the mission.
He stated that the operation reflected India’s firm stand against terrorism and showcased the professionalism, preparedness, and coordinated strength of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
Modi further reaffirmed India’s commitment to defeating terrorism and dismantling the ecosystem that supports extremist activities.
S Jaishankar and Rajnath Singh Join Tribute
External Affairs Minister S.Jaishankar also updated his profile picture in tribute to the operation.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the military action as a symbol of national preparedness and seamless coordination among the armed forces.
He highlighted the “jointness and synergy” between services, describing the operation as a benchmark for modern military warfare.
India’s Tougher Stand Against Terrorism
The anniversary has also renewed focus on India’s hardened policy towards Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack.
After the attack, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, marking a major diplomatic shift in bilateral relations.
At the time, PM Modi had asserted that “terror and talks cannot go together” and that “blood and water cannot flow together,” signalling a stronger strategic posture against cross-border terrorism.
Operation Sindoor Seen as Landmark Military Action
One year later, Operation Sindoor continues to be viewed as one of India’s most decisive anti-terror military responses in recent years.
The operation demonstrated India’s military readiness, strategic precision, and growing emphasis on self-reliance in defence capabilities.
