Operation Sindoor: After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April 2025, India ‘Operation Sindoor’ implemented and targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. Six brave soldiers made the supreme sacrifice for the country during this campaign. The names of these martyrs will now be engraved on the National War Memorial in New Delhi; Their names have already been announced on the website of the memorial.

The martyrs included five army personnel and an air force sergeant

The martyrs include five soldiers of the Indian Army and one sergeant of the Indian Air Force. Two of them have been honored by the government for their bravery: Rifleman Sunil Kumar was posthumously awarded the ‘Veer Chakra’ and Sergeant Surendra Kumar was posthumously awarded the ‘Air Force Medal’. The brave soldiers who lost their lives in ‘Operation Sindoor’ include Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer Mood Murali Naik, Havaldar Sunil Kumar Singh and Indian Air Force Sergeant Surendra Kumar.

Names of martyrs announced

The names of all the six brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice while protecting the country during ‘Operation Sindoor’ have been officially announced. Their names are being inscribed on the National War Memorial, so that their sacrifice will forever be engraved in the nation’s memory. Two of these six martyrs have also been awarded military honors for their extraordinary bravery. Rifleman Sunil Kumar was posthumously awarded ‘Veer Chakra’, the country’s third highest award for gallantry in war, while Sergeant Surendra Kumar was awarded ‘Vayu Sena Medal’. Rifleman Sunil Kumar was stationed on the Line of Control during the operation. President Draupadi Murmu conferred the ‘Veer Chakra’ on him posthumously at the ‘Samsarkhan Samman Sohla’ held on 8th June.

National War Memorial’s ‘Tyag Chakra’ dedicated to Martyrs

The ‘Circle of Sacrifice’ in the National War Memorial is dedicated to the martyrs of the country. It has 16 circular walls of granite; The name, rank and unit of every soldier who made the supreme sacrifice for the country after independence is engraved on the bricks here. Now, the names of these six brave sons of ‘Operation Sindoor’ will also become a permanent part of this glorious monument. The sacrifice of these brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the security and honor of the country will always inspire the country.
