Vivo has officially announced the India rollout of OriginOS 7, bringing its latest Android 17-based software experience to a broad range of Vivo smartphones. OriginOS 7 is now confirmed for the Indian market, with Vivo laying out a phased rollout that stretches from the end of October 2026 through February 2027.
The update is more than a visual refresh. OriginOS 7 introduces a redesigned interface, smoother animations, new AI-powered functions, expanded multitasking, productivity tools, and deeper connectivity between Vivo phones and other devices. Vivo’s official OriginOS page also highlights features such as Fluid Motion, Dynamic Translucent Material, Origin Workbench, AI Search, Call Overview, Office Kit, AirPods connectivity and iCloud access. However, the most important detail for Indian Vivo users is arguably not what OriginOS 7 can do, but when their phone will actually get it.

What Is New in OriginOS 7?
OriginOS 7 is based on Android 17, but it should not be treated as another name for Android 17. Android 17 is Google’s underlying operating system, while OriginOS 7 is Vivo’s software layer built on top of it. Vivo’s own Indian product listings also identify OriginOS 7 alongside Android 17, reinforcing that distinction.
One of the most visible changes is the redesigned interface. Vivo introduces Fluid Motion, which gives interface elements more responsive, spring-like movement as users swipe, scroll, and switch between screens. The system also adds Dynamic Translucent Material, allowing interface layers to adapt to their backgrounds with different visual styles. These interface changes are part of OriginOS 7, although specific visual functions can vary by supported device and software configuration.

The visual redesign extends to the home screen, lock screen, themes and always-on display. Features such as Dynamic Glow, Immersive Home, StickIt and AOD Live Updates are designed to make the interface more dynamic.
AI Features Move Into Everyday Tasks
Vivo is also pushing AI deeper into system applications, with availability depending on the device, region, and software version. AI Search can find files and notes based on descriptions instead of requiring users to remember exact filenames. AI Reader Mode makes long PDFs easier to read, while Snap Note can turn photographed documents, whiteboards and notes into editable content on supported devices.
For calls, OriginOS 7 adds AI Call Answering and Call Overview on supported devices and in supported regions. Call Overview generates a summary after a conversation, giving supported users a quick way to recall what was discussed without manually writing everything down.
The software also brings AI-powered transcription features that can separate speakers, generate highlights, and produce different types of meeting summaries where supported. The availability and capabilities of these AI tools can differ across devices and markets.
Origin Workbench and Office Kit Target Productivity
Multitasking is another major focus. Origin Workbench allows users to open multiple windows and switch between tasks without losing their existing work on supported devices. Vivo notes that the feature is available on specific models, including devices with 12GB or more RAM, while cross-app functionality can depend on app compatibility and region.
Vivo is also expanding Office Kit and cross-device functionality on supported hardware. A compatible Vivo phone can work as a camera for a MacBook, while Task Handoff can send content such as screenshots or photos from the phone to a compatible iPad. These functions require compatible devices and software, and availability can vary by region.
The ecosystem push extends to Apple’s services and accessories. Supported devices can connect with AirPods, with battery and connection information surfaced through Origin Island where the feature is available. Vivo also supports iCloud access through the web on supported devices, allowing users to sign in with an Apple Account through File Manager to view, upload, and download files. Availability varies by device, country, and software version.
No iQOO Phones on the India Schedule Yet
One detail worth noting is that the currently announced India schedule is specifically for Vivo-branded devices. The published list does not include iQOO smartphones, even though iQOO has been part of other OriginOS rollout discussions and OriginOS features can support iQOO devices in certain markets.

For now, iQOO should therefore be treated separately. The India rollout confirmed in the current schedule runs across Vivo’s X, V, S, T and Y series.
OriginOS 7 India Rollout Runs Until February 2027
The OriginOS 7 update represents a substantial software push for Vivo in India, but the rollout is intentionally spread across several months. The X Fold 5 and X300 series lead the October batch, followed by the X200 family in November, additional X and V-series phones in December, and progressively older or more affordable models through January and February.
For users, the practical takeaway is simple: check the month associated with your exact Vivo model. Vivo’s schedule identifies rollout periods, not universal single-day releases, so availability can still vary by model, region, and deployment stage. With the final batch scheduled for the end of February 2027, Vivo is effectively turning OriginOS 7 into a months-long software transition for its Indian smartphone portfolio.
