Asim Munir has chosen his successor! Made Pakistan’s first four-star general, know who Aamer Raza is

Pakistan General Aamer Raza: Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced to promote Lieutenant General Amer Raza to four-star general. With this, he has been appointed the country’s first Commander, National Strategic Command (CNSC). This is being considered a new and very important post in the military system of Pakistan. After this appointment, Amer Raza is being counted among the most influential military officers after Army Chief General Asim Munir.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement issued on Friday that Amer Raza has been promoted to the rank of four-star general. He was already holding the responsibility of National Strategic Command under the National Command Authority (NCA). Now he has been officially made the first chief of this new military command. He has also previously received honors like Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-e-Basalat. After Raza was made a four-star general, it is being claimed on social media that he will replace Asim Munir in future.

Long experience of working in army

Amer Raza’s military career spanned more than three decades. He was commissioned into the 6th Lancers Regiment in 1988. After this he served in important positions like 41st Chief of General Staff, Commander of IV Corps and Chairman of Heavy Industries Taxila. He has also commanded an infantry brigade, an armored brigade and an infantry division in South Waziristan.

Amer Raza has received military education from Command and Staff College, Quetta and National Defense University, Islamabad. He also has a degree in International Relations from the University of Nottingham. Apart from this, he has obtained master’s degree in Defense and Strategic Studies and Arts and Science of Warfare. His experience and educational background are being considered a major reason for this appointment.

Have worked in National Strategic Command

Following recent constitutional amendments, the post of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) has been abolished and National Strategic Command has been created. This command will work under the National Command Authority (NCA) and will be responsible for the management of Pakistan’s strategic assets and nuclear weapons. The NCA was established on 2 February 2000, while this new military post has been created under the defense reforms of 2025-26.
