Shubman Gill: The condition of Pakistan’s batting line-up on English soil has deteriorated. In the third Test match being played in Birmingham, the entire Pakistan team was bowled out for just 133 runs in the first innings against England’s bowlers.
But even more shocking statistics than this innings of Pakistan have come out. Pakistan has scored a total of 743 runs in the 5 innings played so far in the current England tour. In contrast, Indian captain Shubman Gill single-handedly scored 754 runs during the tour of England last year. That is, the entire team of Pakistan could not surpass Shubman Gill’s score alone.
Shubman Gill performed brilliantly in the 5 test match series against England last year. He scored a total of 754 runs at an average of 75.40 in the series, including 4 centuries. The special thing is that he played a huge innings of 269 runs at Edgbaston (Birmingham). Now on the same Edgbaston ground, the entire team of Pakistan has been reduced to 133 runs.
5 innings, never crossed 200 runs
Pakistan’s score on England tour has been disappointing so far:
-
Leads Test: 171 and 135 runs
-
Lord’s Test: 110 and 194 runs
-
Birmingham Test: 133 runs (first innings)
The Pakistani team could not touch the 200-run mark even once in the five innings. Not a single Pakistan batsman could score a century throughout the tour and only 2 fifties were scored by the entire team. Captain Babar Azam is also struggling with poor form. He has scored only 21 runs in 3 innings of 2 matches, in which he has been out in single digits 3 times.
Shameful record of top-5 batsmen
None of Pakistan’s top-5 batsmen could reach double digits (10 runs) in the first innings of the Birmingham Test. It has happened for the first time in the history of Test cricket on the soil of England that all the first five batsmen of Pakistan have been dismissed in single digits. In the entire innings, only Saud Shakeel scored 43 runs and gave some resistance.
The coach changed, but the performance did not
Due to poor performances, the Pakistan Cricket Board removed Sarfaraz Ahmed and Umar Gul from the coaching staff midway through the tour. However, Pakistan’s performance on the field did not show any improvement and the entire team was bundled out for 133 runs.
