Pakistan comes in support of Saudi Arabia amid Houthi attacks, Shahbaz Sharif assures security

Islamabad. A big statement has come from Pakistan amid Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that his country stands firmly with Saudi Arabia in ensuring its security. In this way, Shehbaz Sharif has once again reiterated his commitment towards protecting the territorial integrity and security of Saudi Arabia. He said this during a meeting with retired Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood, the new Secretary-General of the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement. General Nauman met Shahbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister's Office.

Mahmood was appointed the first secretary-general of the alliance between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey in September. This alliance is based on the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, which was signed by the three countries on August 7. It is stipulated that an armed attack against any one of them will be considered an attack against all three. According to Radio Pakistan, Mahmood told Sharif about the strategy to promote defense and strategic cooperation under the agreement. Sharif described the agreement as “a historic milestone for peace, unity and stability in the region” and wished Mahmood all the best in his new role.
