Pakistan will be starved of oil, petrol and diesel will be available like rations! The government has given a big indication.
Lahore. Amid Pakistan’s economic crisis, fuel shortages are also worsening. Escalating tensions between the United States and Iran and the blockage in the Strait of Hormuz have disrupted oil and gas supplies. This has directly impacted Pakistan, where petrol and diesel prices are skyrocketing, and the situation has become so dire that the government is considering measures like rationing.
Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has hinted that if tensions in the Middle East continue, petrol and diesel rationing may be implemented in the country. This means that people will be provided with limited fuel. The government is currently exploring options such as price adjustments and subsidies.
Rationing means distributing a limited amount of an essential commodity. When a country faces a shortage of gasoline, food, or gas, the government determines how much and when each person will receive these items. This ensures equitable distribution of resources.
Escalating tensions in the Middle East and the blockage of the Strait of Hormuz have affected global oil supplies. Pakistan, which relies on imports, is among the hardest hit by the crisis, leading to a sharp rise in fuel prices in the country.
Recently, the price of petrol in Pakistan was raised to ₹480 per liter, though some relief was later provided. The price of high-speed diesel also reached ₹520 per liter, which was later reduced to ₹385. Despite this, the burden of inflation on ordinary people continues to rise.
Experts believe that if global tensions don’t ease soon, Pakistan’s fuel crisis could worsen, further fueling inflation and making it difficult for ordinary people to manage their daily lives.
