Pakistan will take revenge for Dhurandhar, bringing the film ‘Mera Lyari’
Mumbai: The film Dhurandhar: The Revenge is currently generating tremendous buzz at the box office. With a business of ₹1700 crore, the film is shattering industry records. It’s being talked about everywhere. Interestingly, Pakistan is no exception. Despite the film being banned in that country, people are finding ways to watch it. Furthermore, the film industry there has already prepared to respond to the story depicted in Dhurandhar.
Dhurandhar has Pakistan rattled!
Dhurandhar depicts how Hamza (Ranveer Singh) travels to Lyari, Pakistan, and joins the Baloch gang of the notorious Rehman Daku (Akshaye Khanna). He then gradually eliminates terrorism from across Pakistan. The portrayal of Lyari in Dhurandhar has left the Pakistani public so rattled that they are ready to retaliate. In particular, the film’s portrayal of Lyari as a hub of gang warfare and terrorism has displeased people.
Now, a new film has been made there, titled “Mera Lyari.” The film is set in the Lyari area of Karachi and is said to be aimed at portraying the area in a better light. The Pakistani public has been expressing their anger since the release of “Dhurandhar.” Angered by this, the makers made “Mera Lyari” to show the world a different side of the area.
Will “Mera Lyari” reveal the truth about Rehman Dacoit?
The film’s executive producer, Ayesha Omar, shared a post on social media, announcing that “Mera Lyari” will premiere at the British Film Institute in London. The film will be screened at the UK Asian Film Festival on May 2nd, and is then slated for a worldwide release, including in Pakistan. It will be released in theaters a week later, on May 8th. Ayesha is not only the film’s executive producer, but also stars in it, marking her debut.
Speaking of the star cast, the film features several celebrities like Dananeer Mobeen of “Pawri Ho Rahi Hai” fame, Nair Aijaz, Adnan Shah Tipu, and Samina Mumtaz. It will be interesting to see how well audiences respond to “Mera Lyari,” the sequel to “Dhurandhar 2,” and whether it truly transforms Lyari’s image. While Dhurandhar showcased the terror of Rehman Dacoit to the world, will “Mera Lyari” do justice to it?
